Buzzing Into Spring: An Apiary Is Coming to Troy Botanical Garden
There’s a special kind of hum coming to Troy Botanical Garden this spring—we're thrilled to announce the installation of our very own apiary in 2025!
As part of our ongoing mission to create a thriving, ecologically rich environment, the addition of bee colonies marks a major step forward in supporting local pollinators and promoting biodiversity. Honeybees are essential partners in the health of our ecosystems, and we're proud to give them a new home right here in the garden.
To help our buzzing residents thrive, we’re also preparing the landscape with a bounty of echinacea, native wildflowers, and pollinator-friendly blooms designed to feed and nourish the hives throughout the growing seasons. These plantings will create a colorful, ever-changing patchwork across the garden—and offer visitors a front-row seat to one of nature’s most important partnerships.
Not only will the apiary enhance the garden’s natural beauty, it will also serve as a space for education, sustainability, and community connection. Visitors will be able to learn about the role bees play in our food systems, the importance of native plants, and how to create pollinator-friendly spaces at home.
Whether you're a seasoned gardener, a curious kid, or simply someone who appreciates the wonders of nature, this new addition is something to get excited about.
So, come visit this spring—listen for the gentle buzz among the blooms, and witness the newest life taking root at Troy Botanical Garden.
Let’s keep growing—and now, let’s get buzzing.
